It reappeared as an idol to a tribal king named Viswavasu, who worshipped it as Neela Madhaba. A king named Indradyumna from Puri heard about this idol and sent his priest Vidyapati to find it. Vidyapati married Viswavasu's daughter Lalita and persuaded him to show him the idol. However, when Vidyapati tried to take the idol away, it disappeared. Indradyumna was disappointed and prayed to Lord Vishnu for forgiveness. Lord Vishnu appeared in his dream and told him to build a temple for him in Puri. He also instructed him to carve three wooden idols from a log that would float on the sea. Indradyumna followed his instructions and built the temple. He also invited a divine carpenter to carve the idols. However, he was warned not to disturb him until he finished his work.
